| The work of the International Gas Union covers all
domains of the gas industry from the exploration well to the
burner tip, but also special important features such as
sustainable development, regulation and developing gas
countries. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is also playing an
ever more important role in the work of the Union. Natural
gas is uniquely positioned to support a sustainable energy
future because it is clean, abundant, efficient and cost
effective.
The growing importance of gas in all its forms is
reflected in the growth of the World Gas Conference as a
significant energy platform; the 23rd World Gas Conference
held in Amsterdam in June 2006 was hailed as a tremendous
success with more than 3,000 conference delegates, 15,000
net square metres of exhibition space and participation from
across 88 countries.
In Buenos Aires you will find the warmest of welcomes and
be able not only to view the city but also to live an
exceptional urban adventure, enjoying a memorable cultural
programme and the beauty of Argentina and its people. The
chosen venue, La Rural Exhibition and Conference Centre,
offers state-of-the-art exhibition and conference facilities
in the heart of Buenos Aires close to the commercial centre
and well positioned for excellent hotel facilities.
We thank the International Gas Union membership for this
wonderful opportunity and we are committed to continue to
raise the standards. The 2006-2009 triennium will address
the key challenges of our industry and we look forward to
sharing the results of three years of international work on
occasion of the 24th World Gas Conference, to be held in
Buenos Aires on 5 – 9 October, 2009. |
