What is a broad-based
Index?
An index, such as the S&P500, is designed to track
companies in a broad number of industries and market sectors. Thus,
indexes like the S&P500 are termed Broad-based. Instead of companies
from just one industry, such as Pharmaceuticals, these broad-based
indexes will have companies representing many industries, such as
Internet Infrastructure, Beverages, Pharmaceuticals and many more.
Index Shares that represent a
broad-based index
Index Shares are available
for a number of broad-based indexes. Through Index Shares, you can
buy or sell all of the stocks of a broad based index in a single
transaction. The following list gives the currently available broad-based
Index Shares. They trade just like stocks from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15
p.m. each business day. Click on name for factsheet.
